  • How are your candles different than others?
Many commercial candles you can purchase from big box stores can really be harmful! When burned, paraffin wax can release toxic volatile organic compounds (VOCs) into the air including acetone, benzene and toluene, which are known carcinogens. These are the same chemicals found in diesel fuel emissions and are known to cause allergies, asthma attacks and skin problems. The substandard ingredients in many fragrances can, according to the American Lung Association emit Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs), some of which are irritants; others can cause cancer. In addition, they can react with other gases and form additional air pollutants even after they are airborne. Our hand-poured candles are made in small batches and always contain lead-free wicks, use phthalate-free fragrance oils, and are made of 100% soy coconut wax. Our candles will never contain the unhealthy ingredients found inside many other candles, such as paraffin, a petroleum derivative. High quality ingredient may cost a little bit extra, but I'm sure you agree when it comes to your and your families health, it's worth it!
  • Any candle burning tips?
Yes! When you burn a candle they gain a "candle memory". Have you ever burned a candle and you end up with extra wax all up the sides of your container? This can happen if you don't allow enough burn time especially your first time burning. Plan on letting your candle burn for 4 hours each time... especially the first time! Also, remember to trim your wick! Each time you burn your candle trim your wick to 1/8-1/4 inch to get the best results from your candle. The easiest way is just pinch off the blackened wood bits at the top of your wick before each burn.
